Navagraha Havan or Graha Shanti Havan is performed to appease all the nine Grahas and reduce the malefic effects of the planets in one’s life. The nine planets control each aspect of every people’s life and it has the power to change lives in an instant.

When to Perform Navagraha Hawan?

Schedule the havan date as per the Janma Nakshatra of a person and by considering the Yoga, and Thithi of that particular date.

Benefits of Navagraha Hawan:

• Navagraha Havan is performed to reduce the malefic effects of the nine planets.
• Performing this havan eradicates Negative energy and negative Drishti.
• Navagraha havan is the remedy for all Doshas from a person’s Kundali ranging from career-related problems to financial losses, late marriage, frequent illness, delayed childbirth, etc.

When one is in the process of preparing for performing Navagraha Shaanti Yagya, he/she is required to procure a very specific set of woods. This post is to help you understand the nine types of wood that are required to perform Navagraha Yagya (Yagna) Hawan.

In order to please the Navagrahas, always perform Yagya with the Samidhas (wood/Lakadi/Kaashth) mentioned in the scriptures for this purpose. That is the only way to ensure that you get complete fruit of your labor and that the Navagrahas will become Shaant (peaceful) for you. That can only be achieved if and only if according the Yagya is performed for planets with the Samidha listed in the Shloka below.

अर्कः पलाशः खदिरः स्त्वपामाँर्गोथ पिप्पलः | 

उदुम्बरः शमी दूर्वा कुशाश्च समिधासत्विमाः || 

According to the Shastra, as shown in the Shloka above, here are the names of the Samidha (Wood/Lakadi/Kaashth) to be used in Navagraha Shaanti Yagya/Hawan:

For the Sun planet, use Arka also known as Aak Samidha. (wooden)

Use Palash Samidha for Moon. (Khakhra wood)

Use Khadir samidha for Mars. (Kher wood)

Use Apamarg (Apamarga) Samidha for Mercury. (Apamarg’s wood)

Use Pippal (Peepal) samidha for Jupiter i.e. Jupiter. (Peepal tree wood)

Use Audumbar Samidha for Venus. (Gular-Audumbar wood)

Use Shami Samidha for Shani or Saturn. (Use the wood of Khijda)

Use Durva for Rahu.

Use Kusha or Darbha for Ketu.

If you do Hawan with these woods in accordance with Shastra’s words, your Hawan/Yagya will definitely be successful. This will definitely yield favorable results in your life.
